What is Army of Earth?

Army of Earth is a new 3D real-time online-only action-strategy team game, allowing hundreds of players and up to 6 teams to play together.

What's different about this game?

The feature set is quite unique:

• Very easy mouse-based controls.
• Allows hundreds of players to play together in an open environment, with up to 6 teams.
• 9 unique building types, each with its own purpose.
• Competitive or co-operative gameplay.
• 4 distinct Teaming modes (Auto-Team, Free-Team, Co-op and Co-op Extreme).
• Play against human or AI opponents.
• Fully 3D, but has very modest graphics requirements.
• Convenient drop-in/drop-out gameplay; no waiting for players.
• Built-in lobbies for easy matchmaking.
• Maps are generated using fractal mathematics. They never repeat.
• Leaderboard and ingame ranking (skill-based).
• Very small download (around 8MB) and quick install.
• Low bandwidth requirements makes it easy to host large games.
• Music is streamed live from the Internet, and you can choose your own music source.
• Free throughout an extensive Open Beta period.

Army of Earth is not an action shooter featuring state-of-the-art visuals. If you are only interested in that, look elsewhere!

Will it run on my PC or laptop?

Very likely - as long as you have XP with SP2, or Vista. You can check the system requirements and download it here.

Very briefly, how do I play?

• Work with your teammates to destroy all of the buildings (the "base") owned by the other teams; construct buildings to develop your own base; protect your base from enemy players. You win when your team is the only one with remaining buildings.
• Use the mouse to control movement and firing: left mouse button sets a movement destination, right mouse button fires a projectile. Press <Enter> to communicate with everybody, and <Shift> to communicate with just your team.
• When playing in ranked games, you will earn Rating Points. All players are ranked according to their all-time totaled Rating Points. The ultimate goal is to earn high Rank.

Is it free?

It is free throughout an extended Beta testing period, and will remain free until the game is very popular. We're flexible about the financial model, which will be decided later. However, we promise to always keep it affordable.

What's this Beta thing all about?

On April 3 2008, Army of Earth became available for anybody to play. It will remain in a "Beta" testing phase for quite a long time; until it is stable and popular. The Beta is "open", which means that anyone can participate. It is our desire to foster and collaborate with a large, enthused and dedicated Beta community, with discussion centered on our forums.

Where do I sign up for the Beta?

No need to do that! Just download the game, play it, and get involved with the Beta community via the forums.

What happens after Beta?

Post-beta, the game will remain  in active development, because it is our desire to keep making the game better and better, with the help of the playing community. That is the fun part of game development!
